The Artwork Journey of Dick Gilhespy

Here is a selection of some which are currently available on the walls at North East Art Collective.

My history,
I became interested in drawing and painting whilst working as a Project Manager in heavy engineering industry. Initially I selected subjects related to the margins between sea and shore and my first painting sale was of a secluded bay in south west Scotland. The selling gallery was located south of Stranraer where the gallery owner, Meg, would tell prospective buyers about this mad Geordie artist painting seascapes from clifftops in all weathers. We laughed about it but it worked.
As the engineering work petered out, I took a job in Colliers  Art Gallery in Dean Street, Newcastle upon Tyne, and explored other painting subjects producing work based upon football fans and their involvement

The subject proved popular, so I developed the football theme, including references to clubs from other parts of the country.

I added a range of greetings cards for those interested in the subject.

Having a keen interest in the natural world I am becoming interested in trying to capture images of what I see, as I tramp about.
